WRA’S Dyeing Training Programme in Tonk

Wool Research Association, Thane conducted the dyeing training programme in Tonk, Jaipur (Rajasthan) to boost the growth of the Namada industry through better value addition . The training programme was conducted from 7th April, 2003 to 21st April, 2003 with full-fledged dyeing demonstrations which were conducted by Mr. T.R. Rao, Scientist, WRA alongwith, Mr. S. Padmanabhan & Mr. U.V. Umarji of WRA.

 

The programme for the training has been drawn keeping in consideration the limited knowledge of the artisans in a simple manner and the literature provided in Hindi about different types of wool dyes and their application to wool by different methods to obtain different levels of fastness properties. The programme has also included shade matching and other problems encountered during dyeing and also on incorporating natural colouring materials for dyeing of namdas for natural dyeing, which is also another way of value addition on the product. It was also planned to demonstrate the utility of good dyeing effect for getting brightness, softening and lustering after treatments on dyed namdas by using different chemicals for ultimate value addition. About twenty-five artisans have enrolled for the training programme and are presently engaged in learning the art of dyeing with a scientific bias.
